Dans Restaurant, originally located in downtown Reading, PA, was opened in 1989 by Dan Gallagher and Dan Smith. The two Dans’ shared a goal of providing a contemporary alternative to the traditional Berks County dining scene.
The current owners, Bill Woolworth and Monir, were dining at Dans in January of 2005 when they had the idea of purchasing the restaurant. They decided that if the Dans’ were to ever to sell the restaurant, they would buy it. Both Bill and Monir were thinking this would be something that would happen years down the road.
As fate would have it, Dans Restaurant closed it’s doors later that year in 2005. Bill and Monir knew they had to make their move. The two purchased the restaurant and reopened on Valentine’s Day of 2006.
In July of 2012, Bill and Monir purchased The Green Hills Inn, more than 200 years old, located at 2444 Morgantown Road near Flying Hills of Reading, PA.
“This is a big exciting expansion, twice our size with 45 spaces,” Woolworth said. “By mid-October, on a Friday or Saturday night, we would have no seating at our Penn St location. But now we’ll have bigger rooms and more divided space.”
We welcome you to stop by and experience Dan’s at Green Hills for yourself.
